Tacloban Needs Your Help

These past few days we have been seeing several news about Tacloban. Many people there are in need of food and water. Relief goods from the President were taking so long to arrive because they still need to be repacked with the President's name on it. Many are desperate to leave the place because the New People's Army (NPA) was said to be looting the place, raping women, and killing people. As seen on TV, the people were literally pushing there way through to ride the C130, which will take them to Manila. On top of all these, some families have been separated because it was really chaotic. There was no order at all. The airport clinic was full of people, waiting to be taken to Manila. It has been at least two weeks that they have been staying there.

But did you know that this has happened before?

The only difference is that "aid rushed to scene." They didn't care about statistics. They didn't just see the number 15,000 as a casualty count. They saw it as families, relatives, and loved ones who have died in the storm.

I know many, if not the majority, of the us Filipinos have been complaining and blaming the government for being so slow. Many blogs have been posted saying that our government is "dumb." Though this may have some truth in it, don't you think we are being hypocrites? Sitting behind a computer monitor in the comforts of our room typing away our complaints against the government? Instead of just sitting in front of the computer, we should help in lifting the spirits of those people who have been affected. We should remember Tacloban was not the only victim of the storm. It is time that we stand on our feet and help in best way we can.
